Any thoughts on incorporating Olympic style lifts (cleans and jerks, etc.) into a standard exercise routine? How doable and useful are these movements for your “standard” gym goer?
Efun - thanks for the question and it's a great one! Personally, I don't have much experience with Olympic lifting outside a few years when I was a teenager training for football. Do I think they have their place in high-level sports that require explosiveness/power/strength, absolutely.
However, I don't believe the VAST majority of individuals need to be doing Olympic lifting to meet their goals -- the risk of injury is just too high to justify it. Yet, if it's something you have a keen interest in, I say go explore it -- just make sure you have a trainer who can properly and safely coach you through the movements. Hope that helps!
