When I started HIB in November 2022, I had no idea how long it would last, what my goals were for it, or if anyone would even be interested in what I had to say. What I did know was that there was (and still is) a significant need for the dissemination of health knowledge, and my background provided a platform to address this in a small-scale way.
Now, 100 posts later, and after hearing numerous testimonials from individuals who have been prioritizing their health in ways they never did before, I realize why I started this journey. And it’s the reason I will continue.
I want to express my gratitude to everyone who posted questions in the anonymous forum! This marks my second Q&A post, and I'm thrilled to provide further insights into the various topics you're curious about.
Similar to the last one, the Q&A will be split into two parts, with the latter half set for release next week!
For those who missed out, this wasn’t your last chance to ask questions. You can always use the DM link below to reach out at any time!
Let’s get started.
Who is your biggest supporter? Biggest inspiration?
Two great questions to start us out.
I’m blessed to have a tremendous support system of family and friends. And I’m also fortunate to be surrounded by people that challenge me to be a better person, while in the same breath, those that I can truly be myself in the company of… which is a terrific screening tool for deciding who you should allocate your time to.
Biggest supporter – my mother. She somehow finds time in her incredibly busy schedule to edit every single HIB post, scholarship application, resume formatting question, etc… oftentimes sending me drafts back when I’m in my second stage of REM sleep. I’m not sure how she does it but it’s a testament to her selfless nature and how she approaches life.
Biggest inspiration – I wouldn’t say there is a single person I would identify as my biggest inspiration/role model but there are a handful of people in the public light that I follow closely and try to emulate. A few of them are Chris Williamson, Andrew Huberman, Tim Ferriss, Chris Bumstead, and Alex Hormozi.
There’s a common trend with these individuals — they aren’t afraid to go against the grain and live in a way they find meaningful rather than fitting in with the standards set by current day culture. I have a deep respect for anyone who enjoys (and thrives in) the life they set out for themselves… even if it is bit different from others.
What books have changed your life the most?
I appreciate the inspiration for the post last week! Go check it out for the crème de la crème but here are a few others to keep the thread going:
4000 Weeks – Oliver Burkeman
Psychology of Money – Morgan Housel
How to Stop Worrying & Start Living – Dale Carnegie
Atomic Habits – James Clear
Greenlights – Matthew McConaughey
