What does moderation look like for you in terms of health and wellness while also enjoying life?
Terrific question and something I’ve had to work at for the past several years.
As someone who is extremely passionate about health & fitness, it’s easy to get carried away and hyper-fixate on the minor details. This can come in the form of overanalyzing every meal you consume, tracking your sleep down to the minute, and/or skipping out on social events because you HAVE to get up and train the next morning.
While having a disciplined mindset is important, I believe crossing the line into an obsession does more harm than good… at least in my experience.
Here’s how I look at it when I’m trying to make certain decisions. In the grand scheme of things, would I rather look back and have more great memories with close friends to talk about or sleep for two more hours and feel 10% better the next day? Would I rather have 1.5% less body fat or indulge in that pizza and dessert when my family comes to visit Chicago a couple times a year?
