Hello and welcome to 4-Minute Friday where I share, in four minutes or less, the latest things I’m doing to enhance my health, save money, and make day-to-day life easier and more enjoyable.
As always, I can’t thank you enough for the continued support.
Once again, the best way to spread the word about HIB is to share this content with a family member, friend, co-worker, or stranger sitting next to you at Starbucks.

Let’s get into it.
Mindset I’m Embracing:
We can’t be masters of it all.
No matter how much effort we put in, there are just some things we won’t be the most skillful at or knowledgeable about.
There’s too much information and too many options out there.
Whether it’s staying on top of the latest events in politics, best stocks to invest in, sneaky pickleball backhand techniques, or even the most useful app to clip coupon deals… we can’t stay on top of it all.
Attempting to do so is exhausting.
Instead, it’s most worthy of your time and effort to find the niche you’re drawn to and explore it more intensely to gain expertise.
And then surround yourselves with people who have a knack in other areas.
I like to think I’m fluent in lifestyle and health-promotion strategies, exercise planning, and podcasts to promote a stronger mindset.
On the flip, I’m completely out of the loop on the latest hip music, movie releases, and managing finances.
Which I’m starting to grasp is totally normal and a fine thing.
Yet, I have those in my circle who are on top of these areas and can provide me the information they accumulate through their personal interests.
It’s a give and take.
For instance…
I enjoy giving out advice on resistance training strategies while my more musically inclined friends take pleasure in sharing the latest songs they’re listening to.
Don’t be afraid to make use of others’ passions and knowledge!
We all enjoy talking about what gets us up in the morning.
New Content Creator I’m Following:
This guy is incredible.
He dispels the common myth out there that there isn’t enough time to prioritize your health, family, and be successful in your occupation all at once.
And he doesn’t do it in any lackluster way, either.
Not only does he train and compete in marathons, but he also prioritizes strength training 4-6 days per week, runs a highly successful business, puts on a podcast, runs a YouTube channel, and has a great relationship with his friends, wife, and daughter.
Just take one look at the dude and you’ll see he has this life thing figured out.
Nick Bare popularized the “hybrid athlete” concept.
Meaning we not only need to get strong through resistance training but also maintain incredible cardiovascular endurance for optimal health.
I’ve been doing a deep dive into his YouTube channel and have found him fascinating… nearly unbelievable in fact.
He’s efficient in his work, dialed into his nutrition, rigorous in his exercise training program… while still understanding the importance of unwinding from it all to cherish time with those closest to him.
I couldn’t more highly recommend him and his work.
His supplement line Bare Performance Nutrition (BPN) is also blowing up and although I’ve yet to try it, I’ll be buying in soon.
Their tagline “GO ONE MORE” emphasizes what this company is all about.
New Statistics I’m Pondering:
Here are some startling sleep statistics I recently stumbled upon:
Per the National Council on Aging (NCOA)…
13.5% of adults report feeling tired or exhausted on most days.
Greater than 33% of U.S. citizens report achieving less than the recommended 7 hours of sleep on most nights.
Roughly 30% of people deal with symptoms of insomnia.
Anywhere between 9%–38% of individuals suffer from sleep apnea.
I’ve said it 100 times and I’ll say it 200 more, sleep is crucial.
It can’t be overstated.
If there’s one thing that will set you up for unproductivity, sluggishness, and a bad mood, it’s a poor sleep routine.
On the flip side, your life will be transformed if you get it right.
There are countless sleep strategies you can employ to ensure poor sleep isn’t your limiting factor.
Give another glance at my series on sleep to get the details.
What else?
Speaking of sleep, a recent purchase of blackout curtains has been transformative. They’re worth the investment when you live in a well-lit area and during these bright summer mornings!
I’ll be releasing a post next week about some new research on resistance training… stay tuned!
Teach… and be open to being taught.
If you enjoy this weekly bite of information, please share it with a coworker, friend, and/or family member!
