Article I’m Reading:
Sour by Ettore Ewen – a WWE wrestler who goes by the stage name “Big E”.
From his humble beginnings in Tampa, Ewen recounts his life growing up and the internal struggles it led to for years down the road.
He recalls a vivid memory of waking up on his ninth birthday, looking in the mirror, and wishing he could be absolutely anyone else.
Yet his circumstances led to him to search for an escape which he found in football – eventually earning a scholarship to the University of Iowa.
Only to have his career cut short by multiple injuries.
Without giving too much of the story, this sent Ewen on a downward spiral and he couldn’t hide it away from those around him any longer.
Which of course is where the comeback story begins.
Although quite a long read, it’s worth every minute.
Ewen’s closing lines are golden...
It’s OK to get frustrated, or sad, or down on yourself — or even wake up some mornings and not want to be yourself. It’s OK to have bad days.
But just keep having days. Just keep going. Just keep waking up and trying again.
Because every day won’t be like that, I promise.
And tomorrow is a new one.
Winter Necessity I’m Using Once Again:
The season of chapped lips and dry skin is upon us.
While having a furnace is a luxury, it also reduces the humidity in your internal living environment and leads to irritated, dry skin and lips.
A simple way to combat this is to use a humidifier in your room.
Even if you just run it at night, those 7+ hours can make a world of difference.
I brought mine back out last week and am already noticing a big improvement!
If you don’t own one, there’s plenty of options on Amazon for less than $40.
Traveling Tip to Fight Boredom:
It seems like boredom is not even a thing anymore with ever present “entertainment” at our fingertips.
However, there are times when we don’t have access to the Internet and must do other things.
Like read a book, for instance.
Which may be scary to some.
When you don’t have access to the Internet such as when flying (don’t waste your money purchasing it!), it’s also the perfect time to go through old photos/videos to both reminisce while also clearing out junk to ensure your storage is staying full.
It’s crazy how much faster time goes by when you put your mind to something like this.
Keep this in mind during those holiday travels!
What else?
Another round of holiday festivities is upon us. Don’t be that person who’s so uptight that you can’t have a few sweet treats to celebrate! Stay disciplined with your routine and call it “fueling” for those workouts.
Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
